Coming Soon · Enhanced Character Memory
Living Memory is the next generation of PersonaChat's character memory: durable, selective, and alive. Characters remember the things that make a long story feel continuous: relationships, preferences, boundaries, promises, mysteries, important events, and unresolved threads. And those memories change as the story does. Promises get kept, mysteries get solved, old facts get corrected.
Status: in development · Expected in an upcoming release, July 2026 · This page will be updated the day it ships
PersonaChat already keeps a rolling recap of your story: a background summarizer condenses what happened so characters recall earlier chapters, and you can review and edit that recap at any time. Living Memory adds a second layer on top: selective long-term memories.
Instead of replaying your entire conversation to the AI on every message, Living Memory maintains individual, durable memories about the things that define your story, and recalls only the ones relevant to the current moment. When a scene touches an old promise, the promise is there. When it doesn't, it stays quietly in the archive, and every reply stays focused and fast.
Most AI memory systems only add. Living Memory also updates: a promise can be marked fulfilled, a mystery resolved, a fact corrected when the story moves past it. Your character doesn't just remember that a debt existed — they remember it was repaid, and behave accordingly.
That's the difference between a character with a filing cabinet and a character with a past.
The long-term memory store lives on your device, following the same privacy model as everything else in PersonaChat: conversations stay in your pocket, zero chat logs are kept, and what your characters remember about your stories is nobody's business but yours.
Until it ships, today's memory system already leads its class: an automatic recap you can review and edit, on every plan. See how it compares to Character AI, Polybuzz, and the rest.
Living Memory is PersonaChat's enhanced character memory system. It combines the existing rolling story recap with selective long-term memories (relationships, preferences, boundaries, promises, mysteries, important events, and unresolved story threads) and recalls only what's relevant to the current moment. Memories evolve as the story progresses: promises can be fulfilled, mysteries resolved, and outdated facts corrected.
Today, PersonaChat keeps a rolling recap of your story that you can review and edit. Living Memory builds on that with a second layer: durable, individual memories about the things that define a long-running story (who matters to whom, what was promised, what remains unsolved), recalled selectively when they're relevant instead of replaying the whole conversation every time.
Living Memory is in development and expected in an upcoming PersonaChat release in July 2026. This page will be updated the day it ships.
On your device, like the rest of your PersonaChat conversations. The durable memory store follows the same privacy model as the app: your stories and what your characters remember about them stay in your pocket, not on a server.
Sending an entire conversation history to the AI on every message makes replies slower and less focused the longer a story runs. Selective recall surfaces just the memories that matter for the current scene, so characters stay sharp and consistent even hundreds of messages in.
